Soft steps clicked from her heels as she tore across the rooftops. Distance was no matter, and neither were the gaps between buildings. She felt no fear, she never did. The city was busy below, and no one noticed the woman that ran in the cover of darkness. She slid to a stop, shifting behind the upper level to one of the roofs, catching her breath. It didn't take her long to do so. She'd received a mission. An assassination of course, it was what she was trained to do. No one incredibly important, at least, not to the public eye. It was a scientist, she thought. She didn't remember exactly what his work entailed, or maybe she was never told. It didn't matter. She knew his face and she knew his name, that was all she needed. Well, that and his daily schedule. He would be leaving his home in a matter of minutes. She didn't really like being here, well, she never enjoyed being anywhere other than France. A sigh escaped her lips. Again, she was more or less indifferent.
Her glowing yellowish gaze cast about, discerning whether or not there was any sort of threat nearby. No, she was safe. No one would assume, no one would guess. He wasn't important enough to be noticed. She crouched, sliding forward on her stomach so she barely reached the edge of the roof. The city went on below her. Heights were of little concern. Pulling the gun toward her, she rested her gaze on it momentarily. Widow's Kiss, her faithful companion. She shifted the mode from assault to sniper, before pulling it into her arms, feeling it settle with familiarity into her arms. Her visor clicked downwards, scarlet lenses sliding into place over her eyes. They resembled an arachnid, of course. The people below became insignificant, they were not relevant to her or the mission. The only figure that glowed was still inside a building. She didn't move. He'd be out soon enough, she was patient enough to wait. When the moment came, she would pull the trigger. Her head rested slightly on the cool metal, looking through the scope at her target, waiting, watching. There was one thing annoying about said scope, her peripheral vision was negated. What a pain, really. She tore her gaze from the target for a moment, to glance around, before returning to her job.
