Personality: Otto is a pessimist to say the least, a world wars can do that to you, doesn't help to know that you were on the wrong side of it. However, Otto is so pessimist because he is so learned, as well as a professional soldier, regardless of whether he wants to or not, with years of military experience and drilling. He may not be overly talkative he isn’t shy about sharing some of his experiences and having a good conversation, if only to try to make sense of this new world he is in. Speaking of, he lacks in the technology department, understanding almost nothing of this new world. It’s kind of funny to watch him fumble at a touchscreen or get startled by an A.I. Though he is relatively progressive for his time, he seems to accept much of the new world and is a quick learner, though he may bring some of his old habits alone. It’s hard to gain his trust, much less his respect, but that doesn't mean he wouldn’t have your back. He’ll watch your back and hold it till he dies, but he is wary of forming any friendships, as he has lost so much in the past. Though, deep down inside, there's that one little part of him that wants to believe, believe that, maybe, just maybe, he can do some good for the world for once.
History: Otto was born to a widower and a soldier who gave his life in the trenches of World War 1. But he didn’t have his mother for long, she died of a disease when Otto was young. He was alone in this world for the most part of his life, fortunately he wasn't living on the streets, as his family had left him with a little money. Wasn't much, but it was enough for him to pay for education. Than Hitler rose to power, Otto was in University at the time, and the Nazi gained more and more power. At the time Otto payed no mind, though he could understand the politics, he choose not to, the last thing he thought about was justice at the time. As time went on, more and more university students began joining up with the Wehrmacht army, the new highly trained and professional fighting force of Germany that was said to take back the glory Germany had once lost. Soon, he was swept up with the propaganda, not much for the Nazi ideals but to defend his homeland, thinking he might make a sort of hero for himself. And so he was sent to the drilling camps, and once more he drilled, this time with new tactics with a new weapons of mass destruction. He became a machine gunner, as it was what he seemed to do best, and seemed to make quite an impression on the officers. Otto instantly became the big brother of the group, giving pointers on where best to fire or berating them on how they were getting dirt into their weapons. But he felt something he hadn’t felt in ages with them, he cared. All those meals shared together, all those drills they battled through, it just served to bring him ever closer to his comrades, the nightmares seem to begin to subside a bit. The invasion of Poland and the Blitzkrieg only served to tighten the comradery between Otto and his squad. They had all performed admirably, yes they mourned those who died, but with the conquest of France, everything to Otto seemed to finally have worked out. Until they were sent to the Eastern Front. At first things went accordingly, the Russians retreated as the Germans advanced, the were pushing back the red tied. But then, Stalingrad, that’s when everything went truly to hell. Everyday was a fight for survival, every minute another man was downed. It seemed he was creating nightmares by the day. It was hell incarnated, if you’d ever ask about the experience. The endless tide of men would fall against his machine gun. Again, he’d lost everybody he held dear. And again, he was alone in this world. But again, he was lucky, as he was one of the few who were able to retreat without dying from the cold or captured by the Russians, though with a few injures.
Because of this, he was transported to a secret facility, placed on a new “super soldier” project, as he was one of the best soldiers the Wehrmacht army could stand to offer. He was told that they would inject some experimental serum into him as a test. Otto could careless what happened to him, it seemed like a cruel joke to him that the war hadn’t killed him yet, and he wanted nothing more to than to die. But time was against them, Otto couldn’t remember the specifics, other than one of them said that they had to “preserve” him for the future. Though he didn’t understand it at the time, the scientists placed him into a cryo chamber along with other subject with different serums injected into him, and then put him and the others to sleep.
The project was abandoned later as the war was lost, though the site remained hidden for decades, the cold of the mountain kept the cryopods frozen over. THe other patients died of the cold a few years after they were put to sleep, but Otto survived thanks to the serum. This was the same formula that would lay the groundwork for the development of the same serum the United States used on Jack Morrison, though the origins of the serum had long been a mystery. Though that original formula did not make Otto as much of a super soldier as Morrison, it did preserve him for decades. Though he was preserved, he was forgotten, it seemed that he may have died with the rest given the time. But the world still needs it’s soldiers, and it seemed like the time to finally wake up the forgotten soldier.
Appearance/Armor/Gear: Otto still posses his old World War 2 olive-green Wehrmacht uniform, with a matching set of boots and steel Stahlhelm, as well as many of the same equipment from the old days, including a bayonet knife trench spade, water bottle, and a gas mask tube. He also has a pistol holster with his personal Luger pistol. A few modern add-ons to his uniform are knee pads and a flak vest over his old uniform. Additionally he has two ammo belts across his shoulder and a viewfinder attached to his helmet.
Archetype(Offense, defense, support, or tank): Defense
Affiliation(Overwatch, Talon): Currently Neutral
Weapon(s): MG-94 “Bonesaw”: The modern MG-42 “Bonesaw”, it’s name is fitting for the weapon. The weapon has a high rate of fire and a large caliber machine gun with a drum magazine. However, the recoil is high when hip firing. But this weapon It also adds a trait: Suppression. This weapon makes a terrifying noise that even veteran soldiers find unnerving, and will cause whoever is in and around the fireline of the gun to have a decrease in accuracy as well as a blurred vision.
Passive Ability: German Advance: Otto throws his machine gun over his shoulder or carries it’s handle, before sprinting at full speed. He cannot attack while sprinting and will need a secound to take out his machine gun.
Ability One: Scorched Earth: Throws a molotov, on contact will deal a small amount of damage as well as set the target on fire. Additionally an area of about 5 feet in diameter will be ignited on fire, setting ablaze anyone who crosses the area.
Ability Two: Dig In!: Otto dives forward and throws out his bipod, mounting it on the ground and minimizing his profile. Alternatively, if he is in cover he can mount his machine gun onto that cover. His accuracy will increase and his recoil decreases whilst mounted, as well as an increase to his reload speed. The suppression effect also forces characters in his suppression range to decrease in speed. He can still throw molotovs while in mounted mode.
Ultimate: Blitzkrieg: Otto experiences a jolt of electricity from a little box on his bet that sends him into action. He gains the traits as if he was mounted but can run at full sprint. Additionally he can throw molotov's faster.
