He had entered the castle and closed himself in his dressing room, leaning against the door with his head in his hands. Why did he let things get this way? He cursed that stupid omnic, turning to slam his fists into the wooden doors out of frustration. The boy only wanted to turn his rage into something better, something purer...
If only 'been seen as a leader' would be as straightforward as he thought. Sure, the elders would relent when it came to certain commands and wouldn't disobey direct orders in public, but despite the mind control aspect, they still possessed their free will. The men seemed to have developed an agenda of their own. Accepting him as their leader, meant that they had expectations from him and that made the naive boy their puppet, just a figure head, to keep alive and well. While they did hail him as a leader, somewhere, in their subconscious, they knew he had stolen the rank and not earned it. Those old men had no reason to fear him, or fear insubordination, so long as they all were in it together... and today they were.
Ryuu took deep breaths, closing his eyes momentarily. He would need to win some favors to skip training and return to his sister. It felt wrong leaving her like that, after all they had been through a lot together, they both were worn down by life and truly did have only each other. Honoka deserved more and Ryuzaki really wanted to give her the best, without putting her in any danger. He was sure it wouldn't sit well with the elders, but he had to try anyway and he was willing to pull rank if need be.
He didn't bother changing into his training attire, having made up his mind, but did replace the bokken for his kusarigama, tracing the outline of the weapon reminded of its brutality. It was almost time, he raced his way to the dojo, but was met with an unfamiliar scene. The elders stood in a semi-circle around what seemed to be a captured and tied entity. It was difficult for Ryuu to make out if it was a woman or a man, since it was common for both to have long hair. The way the elder's spoke also didn't help.
'This one was seen trespassing into the dojo with the intent to assassinate me. Luckily I was protected by my dear son here.' A man called Kaito said. He then pulled open his kimono, to reveal a big fat fresh gash in his abdomen and down his thigh. Ryuu's eyes widened that looked painful, he was surprised at the endurance of the elders, secretly admiring it. Ryuu went onto to narrow his eyes at the figure in suspicion. 'We request you put an end to this one's violence by using Ryuukage, to ensure this one's training doesn't go to waste and benefits the clan.' the wounded man finished.
Ryuu's hands shook, he was not one for taking lives, but this captive's intent seemed violent. Selfishly, he realized that upon completing such a task, he might be placed better to make his demand to take the day off. He took a deep breath, steadying himself. 'I will do as you say, in return, I wish to take the day off today. Taking a life is something that requires penance, no matter how trivial or criminal its form.' He declared. The elders grimly nodded their consent aware of his empathetic proclivities.
Ryuu walked towards the apparent assassin till he stood right in front. He sensed the fear in the person, but their eyes and mouth were covered. At least his dragon did all the dirty work. He closed his eyes and released his shadows so they occupied the four corners of the room, at the centre of which sat the hostage. The elders seemed surprised at the lack of resistance and backed away to the sides.
'Kage ryū o hōki suru ni wa' (Relinquish to the shadow dragon?) he whispered, his shadows streaked to the figure in the centre in a flurry, once they were done, there would be nothing left but ashes... He kept his eyes shut, unwilling to witness the destruction of this person.
