It was nice when work brought her to good places, it was a rare occurrence too. Her toes pressed into the packed sand, as she strolled, letting the crisp salty sea breeze dissolve any remnant doubt. One way or another, she had learnt how to get what she wanted, operate as an invisible bystander, observing, recording and then tactfully using the collected information. She glanced at her watch, gently stroking the tiny screen so a small hologram popped up, which showed the woman entering the building exactly as Liao and the woman's captor expected. Its wonderful how tech had advanced enough for her to be able to bug an entire section of a city so easily. Another tap to the screen and the hologram changed to reveal a younger man, the predator... and her new prey.
If Liao did nothing, in about ten minutes the woman would probably end up in the bunker of a van... In all honesty she would one way or another, but at the moment it mattered who's van it would be. It was easier playing hero, saving the day, she was probably going to save a life today. Her intent was not to save the woman though, it was to deliberately foil Sasha's plan. He was good, clinical, precise but repetitive, after years of working and playing both sides of the field, Chikio had learned to be much more unpredictable.
With a click of a button she was able to brandish her weapon. An interesting choice of weapon, but she'd have it no other way. Using it she vaulted straight to the roof of the short building, from her predictions, Sasha would be on his way up now and the woman should be right below her, on her way up, too. The sabotage didn't take that much. She was already lurking in the shadows when the woman made her way up. Usually she preferred engaging in conversation, but today there wasn't time for that. The easy route of drugged and relocated worked well for her purpose.
She hoisted the woman onto her shoulder and vaulted back down to the beach, it was a wonderful house, maybe one day Liao would settle down in Ilios. She dragged the woman through the sand and onto a rather advanced but small motor boat, she curtly nodded at the man behind the steer and patted the boat twice and then watched it whir away. The woman had about a couple of minutes to get back to the room, she was very keen on seeing how Sasha would play this out.
The bedroom lights remained off, she sat calmly on a chair by the window and waited for her prey. Unarmed, perhaps even unguarded, but never unprepared.
