Silk. Her hair was like silk. Satya smiled as she played with the dark tresses, it reminded her of how far she had come. From the slums in Hydrabad, where she'd have to fight for her right to clean water, especially if it was for something trivial as washing her hair... to this. Her journey came at the cost of a reset, though. Satya was completely uprooted from her home. Vishkar had allowed her to design Utopaea and gauged her skill from it, but once done, they kept her very busy, too busy in fact. She never had a chance to go back, but she was assured that everyone there now had a much better lifestyle. She trusted Vishkar and didn't see the need to follow up.
In all reality, just the knowing that she had made a difference was enough, she didn't want to go back, not even to see her own family. Those attachments were a thing of the past. In all fairness, Satya wasn't even sure who her father was, nor could she ever keep track of which sibling was in prison for some petty theft and who wasn't. In slums, there was no family, the community raised you and the community never understood her. She was done with that life, Vaswani had moved on and her new mission was that everyone could afford such an opportunity.
She looked around, inhaling the clean fresh air from her large balcony. The city twinkled in the twilight, putting the stars to shame. Oasis had probably surpassed Utopaea, simply because it wasn't just a project developed for displaced people, the entire city was planned meticulously. The fact that the conference about city planning was held here rather than in some scum infested region that was still to be remade, meant things were looking up. There weren't any brainwashed protestors plaguing the streets here, the discussion would be completely unbiased and in the favor of the truth. Her truth.
She picked up the pamphlet for the conference and stared at her name, Symmetra and picture, listed under the speakers. A sense of pride welled inside her. She scanned the other names and faces quickly and then decided to head down to get some dinner. The conference was tomorrow she needed to prepare. She donned a pretty blue suit and sashayed her way to the hotel's diner. Once seated, she lazily stared at the menu and her surroundings, mentally processing the best combination for her order.
She noticed a face that looked familiar on another table. Her idle mind scanned her memory to pick out the identity of the man. It didn't take her long. "Jenky something" She muttered, he was on the panel of speakers too. Not to be caught staring, she quickly averted her gaze to avoid eye contact as she tried to recall which side of the fence he was on.
