Pharah was a born to the legendary Ana Amari and Reinhardt Wilhelm. But that is not where her family ended. She was brought up cumulatively by all the members of overwatch. She and Mido were the offspring of the organisation and she was the favoured child, probably because Mido her brother showed no interest in the organisations' tasks. Pharah would often trouble the members to give her tips, tricks and battle tactics. Her bed time stories were often of their exploits and missions. The other members would humour her and discuss the kind of part she would play in the future of the organisation, to the growing dismay of Ana, what started as chiding grew into full blown arguments between the mother and the daughter.
She shared an interesting relationship with Mido. While it was very brother-sisterly, she often found herself playing the role of the practical overprotective one to the scattered self-indulgent Mido. It didn't bother her, it cemented her belief that gender roles were a thing of the past. Fareeha was a self-proclaimed tomboy as a young girl. Armed with the knowledge from her Overwatch family, she loved beating boys at anything they challenged her to do, especially relishing the look on their faces when they were forced to eat their words: "Girls can't do this." She grew with these sentiments to be a very vocal advocate about women rights and safety and is a feminist to boot. Her most cherished memories of her mother are the martial arts sessions they had. Though they grew more and more rare, even the occasional times were enough.
Pharah had a knack for getting into dangerous situations, while some were accidental, most were not, even though she claimed otherwise. The girl liked playing with fire, maybe she was a little attention seeking, but for the most part she just liked the feeling of danger, much to the trouble of those around her. She wasn't sure whether this proclivity is what made her mother staunchly against her joining Overwatch or something else... But she noticed that her father wasn't so adamently against the idea, perhaps he was secretly happy that she'd get to uphold their legacy. Simply because of the possibilities that her parents might disagree over her, Fareeha didn't push too much, she'd make her choices when it was time.
It was evident tension was brewing. The naive Fareeha only realised once it was too late though. She knew there was a power struggle between Reyes and Morrison, they were both close to her mother and father. But the girl saw the overwatch family as a closely-knit impenetrable fortress, she never thought something could creep its way in between them. She saw this as healthy competition and would even fan the fire by childishly joking about it to both of them... "You cleared the entire route uncle Reyes, but uncle Jack saved the girl and caught the gang..."
Then the fated mission happened, where her mother was gravely injured and Fareeha vowed that she would train hard and one day make it impossible for anyone to harm the people she loved. But the hate that had found its way into the family had already poisoned the organisation. When she heard the news she took a break from tending to her injured mother and rushed to try and salvage something... but it was all gone. Upon returning she met with another blow, Ana was no more... just like overwatch. Everything Pharah ever wanted was gone. When she turned to her grief stricken father for help, he had other plans, to bury his past, perhaps pretend like it never happened and relive his old days. He left her with the Egyptian uncle that often took care of the Amari siblings...
The woman felt abandoned hollow. But for the sake of her brother she learned to keep up appearances. She couldn't lose him to this tragedy too. As she grew, she recognised she was a rather emotional person. Seeing that as a weakness, she learned to remain guarded. She feared loss more than anything else often overworking hard to day secure everyone she loved.
"A tattoo so close to your eye?" the tattoo artist exclaimed. A tight lipped nod was all he received in return. Pharah had made her choice and this pain was a small price to pay. The tattoo symbolised the irony, that to uphold her mother's legacy she'd have to directly disobey the legendary sniper's last wish. Pharah had enlisted herself in the Egyptian army. She met with several slurs from her male colleagues, but left them far behind, or rather below when a certain opportunity presented itself. A company had made jetpacks for soldiers, but no one was willing to try them especially because any malfunctioning could mean they would und up as an ugly splat on the ground. Hollow Fareeha had nothing much (or more) to lose and took to the task, and was commended by her superiors for it. Everything went rather well and it turned out she had a knack for being airborne.
There was nowhere but up to go from there. She worked and worked and was amongst the youngest females to ever rank up so fast. When the army thought that her potential was too great and was now being limited by being an officer, they let her move on to greener fields when the opportunity presented itself in the form of Helix Security International. This gave Pharah a chance to travel the world again and spend more time with her brother, things were looking up... maybe time would heal old wounds. That's when overwatch reached out to her... And she reconsidered... Maybe not. Eager to dig up her old life, she reached back out to her family.
