Personality: Angela is a caring, motherly woman who more than anything wants to save everyone in the world, bettering their lives and preventing suffering. She is a woman who refuses to believe that someone is beyond redemption or saving, and will do what she can to save everyone. While every life is important to her, Angela do lean somewhat to the many lives over the few, and will always choose the result that saves the most people. This has cost her in the past and undoubtedly will again. She is a veteran of the battlefield, and is extremely hard to rattle, as well as being plenty capable of and willing to protect herself.
Angela is also a very compassionate woman will will gladly lend an ear to anyone who seeks it. In her free time, Angela is a avid cosplayer who always seeks to come up with new ways to impress with her costumes. What very few know, is that the changed version of her catchphrase "Heroes never die" to "My servants never die" during her cosplay as a witch on Halloween, was Angela venting a much more domineering site of herself she very rarely shows in private and because she simply hasn't met anyone she feel she could reveal it to, it remains mostly hidden.
Back Story: Ziegler rose to become the head of surgery at a prominent Swiss hospital before pioneering a breakthrough in the field of applied nanobiology and stem cell research that radically improved the treatment of life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It was this expertise that attracted the attention of Overwatch.
Because her parents had been taken by war, Ziegler was opposed to the organization's militaristic approach to keeping global peace. Ultimately, she recognized that Overwatch offered her the opportunity to save lives on a much larger scale. As Overwatch's head of medical research, Angela sought to leverage her work for healing in frontline crises. The result was the Valkyrie swift-response suit, which Ziegler herself piloted on many Overwatch missions.
Despite her contributions to Overwatch, she was often at odds with her superiors and the organization's overarching aims. One example was the development of the biotic rifle by Torbjörn. Torbjörn provided assurances that the device was only intended for healing, but Ziegler maintained that this was setting Overwatch down a road that could lead to the weaponization of biotic technology, and that she had only conducted research in the field on the condition that it would not be used for offensive purposes. When the group was faced with a series of allegations, Ziegler was interrogated in the hearings conducted by the United Nations. In light of the fight between Overwatch members Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes, Ziegler admitted that the outcome had been inevitable. They had drifted further and further apart ever since Morrison had been chosen over Reyes for the position of strike commander, and that rift had widened despite her efforts.
When Overwatch dissolved, Ziegler dedicated herself to helping those affected by war. Though she spends most of her time caring for the broken and dispossessed in crisis areas around the world, Dr. Ziegler can be counted on to don her Valkyrie suit whenever innocents are imperiled,hoping to make a more peaceful world. When Winston issued a recall of Overwatch agents, Mercy was in the Middle East. While she was at first reluctant to return to Overwatch, with the emergence and chaos spread by Talon, she agreed to join and lend her aid.
A rather big event that happened recently, was Angela's kidnapping at the hands of Junkrat. While it all turned out well, Angela have been forced to deal with a very apologetic Junkrat, something she was formerly unsure was even possible.
