Real Name: Dr.
Reginold Shepard the 4th
Nickname:
Dr. Shepard, Sir.
Age:
47
Nationality: American
Occupation:
Formerly, Director of Science firm specializing in AI, Nanite Material Research.
Base of Operations:
Formerly, Albany, New York
Affiliation:
None
Voice:
Refined, calm, cold and withheld. On the deeper side, very well to do.
Personality:
Dr. Shepard is often called and intense man, when he looks at you there is an air of incredible expectation, he's very intelligent and doesn't really need to say it. Every action he takes seems calculated, logical and without a hint of emotional sway. One might call him cold, and they'd likely be right. At best he's lukewarm, his work is very important, and he understands just how impressive it is without being Arrogant. He's begrudgingly a leader for his firm, even though his word tends to translate into law and few would attempt to tell him different. He prefers a more hands on background role.
Back Story:
Reginold had the world laid out for him, every step he'd ever wanted to make was planned and carefully explored. He had already decided what he was going to do when he grew up at age 10, and had followed through. Grinding through school, mostly alone but excelling at his class work, doing as many extracurricular clubs and activities as he could within reason, and earning full rides to the school he'd decided to attend. His hardwork had always paid off, and his single minded devotion to his goals had brought him success. Until he'd gotten married, and had a son.
This is where things got sticky, children didn't make /sense/ neither did wives. The divorce was over with so easily, she'd decided to ditch the family life for career life and he'd been stuck with the narcissisticly named child they'd produced. It wasn't that he disliked being a father so much as he found it /difficult/ he didn't remember being quite so emotional but he supposed he was. Raising a child and continuing his long hours at the office wore on him. He hired a full time nanny, one he'd been told was the /very best/ for fostering logic and higher thinking.
Eventually when his son had reached the age of schooling he'd looked high and low for a school he felt best fit his vision for his future. A boarding school with a good reputation popped up, and off he sent Reginold to be educated.
It was a relief to focus on his work, but also unbelievably depressing...what a strange sensation, feeling this lonesome, he supposed parenting wasn't awful. There was a certain fulfillment in seeing them so small and fresh to the world, growing into logic and understanding. Quite fascinating. He took for granted his understanding of the world.
...He'd almost thought nothing of Reginold coming back from a year of boarding school. He was too tired from work to thinking much of it, but he started to realize quite quickly what was sleeping in his bed. He'd practically invented the skin the thing wore. While it was in active lying there he'd torn it apart. It would have the answers he sought. A little self-destruct device was deactivated. What monster had done that? Just in case it was discovered he supposed. Then he hooked it up to his work machines, and analyzed it using the computing power there. He wasn't a computer science expert by any means, but the AI they developed to work on simulations could be re-purposed surely. He'd put work aside, the team could handle it...someone had his son.
...Desperation? Recklessness? God what was he becoming. Reginold didn't even really know why he'd gone so far, he didn't contact police, he didn't look to any other aid, he had to find his son. They'd only get in the way.
