The fire had consumed most of the above ground structures, the base having collapsed into the underground parts. Hephaestus had clawed his way out while the fire burned, before collapsing on the dirt outside. Exhausted the old soldier had just lay there. Any hope of using one of the vessels in the hangar was gone, everything had just gone up in smoke. George didn't have the energy to move.
Who had that other guy been? The angel he knew, Ansell had described him, but the other one? If only his phone worked, he could call Tom or Kat, but as with anything that touched Hephaestus it'd been well fried. He groaned. They'd come find him, surely, Jack wouldn't just leave him out here to die, as soon as they found the coat was clear they'd come pick him up. At least he hoped so, it'd be agony dying out here knowing help was mere hours away. He supposed he should thank Hephaestus at least for getting him out of the burning buildings. He wasn't keen on burning to death.
"...damnit..." He hissed as he he tried to move his bad leg, it was stiff and stuck. Just a nap, that's what he needed...a nap, no one was around. Maybe the fire department would pick him up. Surely they'd seen the blaze.
