The captain stood, straight backed, his hands held behind him as he looked out the viewing window thoughtfully. Their mission was one of peacekeeping, the neutral zone was being infringed and they had to clean it up. Omnics and Humans had a tenuous peace, machines kept to their worlds and territory, humans kept to theirs. The Humans had specialized military force designed just for keeping the peace between the two races. Admiral Jack Morrison was overseeing this operation himself, as there was something troubling about this latest infraction. Worlds on the cusp were often being claimed by both, but this was different. At least it felt different. The Omnics didn't have demands, and the planets on the edge weren't complaining, it was a strange infraction. The Omnic vessel was just /sitting there/ out in the vast demilitarized zone.
He sat down in the captain's chair, the captain of this vessel was standing at his side as second mate. "Arrival at the Neutral Zone in 4 hours, performance is nominal," explained the helm.
"Good, drop us out of slipspace a day out by impulse, I want time to prepare," he explained. They didn't know what they were dealing with. Not yet at least.
"Yes, sir; Navigation responding understood," He replied. Right this was one of those odd new vessels, that the new science division was trying out. The ones with the hypergeniuses doing the driving. Supposedly it allowed them to work more independent of warpgates and would speed up and streamline travel. He wasn't yet convinced of that, and he wasn't sure he felt comfortable with these things...
"I'll be in the ready room, inform me of any changes," he said and disappeared from the bridge. Right, this would be touchy. Omnics didn't have the same capacity as humans for emotion.
