What Happens Next? [Jack]

IT wasn't exactly as spacious as the office he'd left behind, but Jack mad do with what he had. It worked, and he was intently studying the screen. He didn't look like he'd slept much recently, he also hadn't been to see Harley. Grinding through everything with a stubbornness he was known for. He looked up and blink, almost as if he didn't recognize the sniper. Ana, he smiled weakly, it was a tired one but it did the job. "Ana, good to see you," he said as he motioned to the chair infront of the desk.

He thought about how he was doing. Really thought about it. "Well, ever since the coma can't seem to find a moment to sleep," he said with a soft laugh. "Keep having the same dream, but otherwise I'm alright." He rubbed his face with his hands.

"How've you been?"

She moved to settle into the seat opposite him, pulling one leg up under her as she did. "You should get some rest. Eat. You have to take care of yourself, Jack." She gave him a concerned look, he'd been driving himself hard, she could see it on his face even if she hadn't already been aware of that fact. "You don't do anyone any good if you drive yourself back into that bed in the med-bay." She paused. "I was worried for you." She admitted quietly.

She could be a bit more blunt with him on these things than others could. But at the same time she couldn't keep up her own guise of always being alright around him either. They knew each other too well for such things. "I'm...as well as can be expected." She said after a moment. "I can't really say I'm sleeping well either but..." She shook her head. "It comes and goes. It always does. I am glad things are quieter...the last weeks have been hard on everyone...yet I know it won't last..." She looked up to watch his reaction.

Jack nodded and furrowed his brow briefly. "You're right, just seems when I close my eyes I'm stuck back in the nightmares, I...I don't sleep through the night," he replied. "Always need McCree to wake me up, I guess sometimes I scream. It's, not been great for him either." He scratched the back of his head as he looked back at her. "I know, I...I'm trying but, there's so much that needs to be done, Whiskey keeps finding more info. We're so close to finally being able to take this fight to those bastards I....I'm hoping that maybe if I just keep working, it'll happen faster and this whole thing'll be over." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "I never figured I'd retire but it's starting to look nicer by the day."

They were both getting a bit too old for this work, even if neither of them wanted to admit it. It was exhausting work. "Yeah, this quiet is probably only for a moment. We should talk, about what our next moves are." He glanced at the screen. "This is all so fragile, we need more of a plan and routine. Something to get everyone moving in the same direction, on the same page."

She didn't answer for a long moment. "That's part of what we need to talk about, Jack. No matter what we know, no matter what we find or figure out....we are never going to be able to take the fight directly to them." She frowned. "We don't have the resources, the money, the people...these are people who can obliterate an entire massive American city...we can't go up against that. Not directly."

She studied his face. "But we do need to talk. We need plans. Everyone here just does exactly as they want, without communicating with anyone else...and that is how we get picked off. That's how we get taken apart. That's how...I get dragged off to the frozen hell of Alaska and you end up in a coma that nearly kills you and..." She spread her hands, indicating around her. "Half of our team being laid up and severely injured all at once...we're smarter than this, Jack. We're better than this. We just....we need to figure this out."

"I know, that's not really what I meant...I mean more, well what I mean to say is we can be more prepared and possibly sabotage their efforts," he replied. "Sorry I've been having trouble keeping a train of thought..." The Coma had shaken a few screws loose he figured, but it shouldn't be an issue he'd be fine. "I wouldn't be stupid enough to rock up to their doorstep and demand they stop. If we know their movements we can engage them in smaller skirmishes, or simply sabotage their plans."

He scratched the back of his neck. "I agree, and you're right we're smarter than this. We need to be more of a team," he agreed and yawned. "I've got some missions, some briefings some training regiments...but I don't know if I'm in a condition to train up our recruits." A deep sigh. "I'm feeling god damned older than I am." He rubbed his face. "Whiskey has all this information, he's weaseled his way into a God AI and a lot of Talon logs...so we have a good idea of them...we just need a way to effect them."

"You've been through a lot." She said gently. "Of course it'll take a while for it all to come back to normal."

She settled back into her seat. "What missions do you have in mind? What trainings?" She asked. "I've had a few thoughts as well, let's see how many of them are on the same page." She smiled, they had often been good at that, both often coming up with the same thoughts and ideas, coming together easily. It's what had always made them a good team. "I've been doing what I can...but instead of just assuming things...how can I best help?"

Jack nodded. "You're not wrong," he said with a shake of his head. "Whether I rest or keep working, it's a horse a piece; so I guess I'll just keep pushing through."

The old soldier smiled a bit, just like old times. He turned the screen to her and brought up a few. "Reaper told me about Genji's brother, since our ninja is AWOL, and Reaper and this Hanzo have some common ground so I hope I can use that to our advantage. He's been contracted by Talon in the past. I would like to use that leverage," he replied. "Other ones include a few Los Muertos dealings, a small team to disrupt and weed them out, freeing us up to cripple Lumerico which deals with Talon. If we break their infrastructure we can effectively pull them apart I think," he offered and sighed. "Training, well really I'd like to equip Junkrat, Lucio, and our other recruits with some Overwatch training, hand to hand combat, special ops. Whatever we can do here to better help them in the field. If it wasn't for aid from outside sources Hush, Junkrat and Ansell would have all been dead. Speaking of which I want to make contact with those outside sources. More resources can only help." He scratched the back of his head. "I've had a bit of spare time. Feels like being Strike Commander again..."

She leaned closer to look at the screen, studying what was displayed across it.

"I absolutely agree that some of our newer recruits need training. Many of them have an understanding of survival as it relates to their previous lives, but this is entirely different. And for the most part...they have little to no respect for the chain of command. They come and go and do as they wish, if they decide they want to do something or take things and go elsewhere...they do. And this has to stop." She frowned over at him.

"We should also keep an eye on them for their suitability for field work...I'm especially concerned about Lucio in that regard. He's been sent out in the field a few times, and he's taken it very hard. He's a sweet young man but I don't know if he has the temperament for the sorts of things we see in the field."

She scanned some more across the screen. "The more resources we can lay our hands on, the better." She agreed.

"I agree, I'm putting a short leash on people from here on out, we don't have the resources to be losing people, and recklessly endangering ourselves as you said. We have to stop going in blind, Dorado was a mess because we didn't have info, Ilios was the same. I take responsibility with Ilios I was impatient;" he replied as he crossed his arms. "I'm going to do group exercises, have Whiskey put together a full report of what we know before a mission." He scratched the back of his head. "The Aussies especially don't have nearly a concept of who's in charge; Ansell I know had military training, but he's practically feral, then Junkrat and Roadhog are just undisciplined, not used to following rules."

He sighed. "I'm concerned about Lucio as well, he led a rebellion against Vishkar down in Brazil, we just have to bring that back out of him. I think he's afraid to step up, he's had a few blows to confidence and we just need to shimmie that up," he replied.

"Yeah, I'm trying to get Whiskey to get in contact with this secret service, I hope we can convince them we're worth funding."
