Personality:
Symmetra is a being of logic, law, and order. Cold and unyielding, she demands nothing less than perfection, be it from those around her or her own self. Herself, above all. She is a woman of a singular, pure vision: to bring order and harmony to the world. Relentless in her pursuit of her goal, she is willing to go to any length to attain it, almost regardless of the cost. Symmetra is a builder, and as a builder she abhors the notion of destruction and violence... but if needs must, she will not hesitate to get her hands dirty for the greater good.
A pity the Vishkar Corporation seems to operate towards an agenda that does not -quite- match with Symmetra's ideals. She has been kept in the dark on this for years, but recent events have made her begun to silently question them. For now they are only vague half-thoughts and momentary feelings of unease, for she is unused to uncertainty. Yet the seeds have been planted, and it is only a matter of time before they sprout.
Symmetra is a brilliant architech and a refined sort of genius who can manage to learn (if not master) most things she sets her mind to at ease. Yet despite her intelligence and despite her idealistic goal, she is a woman who often has a difficult time dealing with people. She has trouble sympathizing and empathizing. Socializing has never been a strong trait of hers. Yet she has learned to cope and manage. Mostly.
Back Story:
Born in the slums of Hyderabad, India, Satya Vaswani's eearly years were not kind ones. Though she has little recollection of her early childhood, she can conjure up images of slums, filth, and poverty. It was dirty, it was unpleasant, and they are memories perhaps best left forgotten.
It was the Vishkar Corporation who saved her from those slums. Satya was one of the few people who possessed the capabilities of harnessing and controlling the radical new experimental hard-light technology as an architech, she was plucked from her home and placed into their academy to train and become an architech herself. Satya quickly buried herself in the work, and with her unique dance-inspired approach to work, quickly became one of Vishkar's top architechs.
There was more to it than just building and designing. The Vishkar Corporation blessed Satya with the moniker “Symmetra” and set her out for more... clandestine operations. Operations of the corporate espionage variety. Unshakable in her faith and loyalty, Symmetera accepted this new role without question. This was all for order. This was all for peace. This was all for the greater good.
Until Rio.
It was a typical bidding war. Vishkar versus Calado, two companies vying for a contract with the government to redevelop the slums of the city. Calado won. Vishkar, unhappy with the loss, sent Symmetra to investigate for any leverage to use against their rival. She found nothing of value. To her horror, her superiors detonated the Calado building, destroying both it and a great swath of the surrounding slums.
Things have... slowly begun to right themselves since then. With Calado gone, Vishkar has now been entrusted to redevelop the Rio slums. Yet they are moving at a pace far slower than Symmetra expected, something that does not sit quite right with her. But she must be resolute. She must have faith. Building a better world is not an easy task, after all...
