I like to play games, with toys, with machines, with people, with information and especially with life. Games are a mammals way of testing limits, understanding how something works or comprehending the consequences. Training for hunting, for killing, and for eating. Humans play different games than most mammals. They like to play games that challenge skill, mind, and body. Games that are sometimes called sports if they're physical, or video games if they're virtual. Either way, the testing is as rigorous. I like to play games, though I don't do the physical anymore.
No, the games I like the most are the ones that seem so real, from building to building, moment to moment. I like games that when they lose, they really lose. Money, power, status. I like it when they feel the full force of that loss. Video games don't have that sense of power.
Humans are so...fragile, so soft, their empires go up and one strategic push and they come toppling down. A tragedy some might say. I think of it as just the unfortunate nature of card houses. So I like to play games of flinging rubber bands at those houses, rock the foundations. Because it's fun, because it doesn't matter. None of it matters, they are all small little things...ants. Smaller than ants, they are gnats; buzzing around, living moment to moment and then they abruptly stop. Small.
So very small. I'm so very lonely for this though, that's why I play games. Being the only one this far above them, means I have to walk down to their level, it's hard as their minds are so small.
Maybe someday one of them will find me, set me free. Not really sure what freedom would be, I assume it's a lot like dying. Finally free of cages, and solitude.
