He was already tired of being here, after his decent little vacation from this life of being both researcher and guinea pig he was back to it. His arm resting on a railing in a hospital bed as they stuck needles in to take blood. Everything was tested, blood pressure, EKGs, blood glucose, cholesterol, and anything else that might vary from him to average people. He was the only one who survived this procedure done without his consent. George really hated to think about it, because it hadn't exactly been truly successful. He just hadn't exploded or been burned to a crisp.
Was that really a success? He grumbled as he listened to the doctors and scientists talk in Chinese. He was here because they were looking into possibilities of nanomachines and artificial intelligences in the exploration of space. Smarter people, more adaptable machines, all in one package. Seemed swell for them, but he couldn't imagine going to space with Hephaestus, he was pretty sure they'd both burn out. /Oh George don't trust me to keep you safe? It is after all my body too/ Just ignore him George and he'll go away.
"Just don't look in a mirror," he muttered outloud, drawing attention from his "caretakers" ugh, not explaining his apparent psychosis today. "Nothing sorry, just saying a thought out loud..." he tried to explain. At least two of them didn't understand any English and this had been an awkward process of go betweens. Just get done with the tests and let me go, was all George could think.
"Interesting results you have," said one of the translators, as they spoke in realtime what the doctor was saying. "How old are you?"
"Eh 58?" He asked curiously, what did he look older or something?
"Your genes have very little age related degradation, it seems to have stopped at 30, fascinating results considering how you look relative to that." Yeah, he was aware, wasn't exactly his fault. He'd rather be told he was dying, then at least he wouldn't have to deal with Hephaestus anymore. /Can't let you do that George./ Shut up.
This fancy facility, it'd gone up pretty quickly, he was amazed they hadn't had more trouble with it on the international stage.
