Jamie hadn't been dating the music teacher long, almost a week now, and he still wasn't entirely sure if they were dating or if they'd just gone on the one date. He'd been spending more time in there though, Lucio's students didn't pick at him the way most of them did, at least not all of his students, and being in the music room when Lucio and the students were singing tended to help him overcome the anxiety that the reclusive janitor often got.
But the other teachers, at least the loudest ones, didn't seem keen on the idea of him trying to date Lucio, and he'd been fully aware of all the whispers that came from them, shared between teachers that were adamant in their dislike for Jamie. Whispers that Lucio could do better, that he deserved better, that he was crazy, because Jamison was clearly damaged and clearly dangerous, how Lucio was just so sweet for humoring the nasty man. That one hurt the worst, because he realized it was probably true, Lucio probably was just humoring him.
Jamison had always had self confidence issues, he had a shitty job, and a shitty cramped apartment, and not enough skills and mental faculties to hold down anything better. And on top of that, he was pretty sure he was pretty fucking ugly. All the whispered words had sunken the man to a new low though, and he'd been avoiding the music teacher like the plague because of it. Waiting until he saw him leave to start his rounds, which was what he was doing now, hanging around close by the man's classroom to watch for him to leave so he could do his job and go home.
