'Fishkid'

If I were to take a moment, or a year
to recite every word,
from every poem,
in every text,
written from the time man thought to write
to the time we take our last breaths
it still wouldn't even come close
to being enough to describe the beauty of you

you, vast and wide as the universe is reaching
with a hunger for knowing that could rival the curiosity
of the first human to walk the earth when he
discovered the wheel and landed on the moon

I could try,
but really, there aren't enough words in the world
for me to put them on you and have that be enough

Kids don't get told what to do when their hearts are taken
by someone who's reach could span the entire universe and expands just as fast,
I was never told what to do when 'Fishkid' is an apt moniker for the person
who's got my head spinning so fast it might spin right off my shoulders, and I'd be okay with that.

I'll sure try,
because your beauty to me could put
even the most classic masterpiece to shame,
but you still laugh when I smile and call you 'Fishkid'
and if that's not really beauty.
Then I don't know what is.
