Devil's on Our Side [Roadhog/Hush]

Roadhog nodded. "It has been a while..." He said, thinking back at the lull of jobs recently. It was like Junkrat was starting to settling into a more subdued life, which was strange. "Though I do love the thrill of the work." He growled, revving the engine as they rode down the high way. Roadhog was surprised when his employer asked what his future plans were. He pondered it for a moment before shrugging. "I'll go to the next highest bidder I suppose... You paid me to do this job, I'll keep doing it until you either can't keep or just stop paying me." Roadhog figured he'd stick around even after that, it'd taken him long enough to find his son, he didn't want to just walk away again.

MEANWHILE!

The sniper leveled his rifle on the cliff top. He'd heard that two of Morrison's targets were in the area and this was the only road for miles around. Seeing as the pair traveled by motorcycle, this cannon was the perfect spot for an ambush. Scanning the horizon he spotted his target, the giant and the explosive expert, a bit rougher than expected. Of course, at this point, Morrison seemed desperate enough to take in anyone at this point. He thought about tracking them but they had the speed advantage over him. He made the split decision to stop them and fired, hit the front tire. Before the pair could figure out what was happening he loaded and fired another shot, taking out the tire on the side car. The bike still had it's back tire, but with just that, it probably wasn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

He leaned back in his seat and kicked his feet up, chuckling, "Yeh, nothin' beats blowin' shit up an' main' bank t'boot!" He'd been enjoying the downtime that had plagued him recently, but the urge to cause havoc never seemed to leave for long. He felt bad, given the encounters he'd had, but he'd stayed true to no hurting anyone. They had to give him that.

He glanced up at the man as he answered his question, he half expected it, but it still kind of stung, "so it really is jus' business t'yew?" He knew that that was most likely the case, but it still hurt hearing it out loud, "I guess that's t'be expected. Kinda 'oped maybe I 'ad a friend..." He shook the thought away and grinned, "'least yer stuck wit me fer now eh--" His words were cut off from a loud BANG from their front, then another from right beside him, "CRIKEY! What the fuck wassat?!" He was holding on tight in case the blown out tires threw them, looking around to try and figure out what they'd hit to cause it.

Roadhog shrugged, it wasn't all just business to him. However, after the revelation that Roadhog was responsible for the destruction of the omnium, the thought of telling Junkrat the truth of his parentage would be negative at this point. However, before he had the chance to respond, the front tire of his chopper burst. Immediately thereafter, the tire on the sidecar burst. Roadhog tried his best to save it, but he still swerved. Grabbing Junkrat, the large man bailed out as the bike. The ride crashed into the canyon wall in a firey explosion. "The hell..." Roadhog said, standing up and watching the inferno.

"Mako Rutlege. Jameson Fawkes. I have a proposition for you. My employer is looking to get a team together, and I feel his hiring costs may be to your liking." Hush said, already having moved down into the canyon onto the road. "Look, but do not touch until you make up your mind. Get to close and you'll wind up like the motorcycle." He said, loading a round into his rifle to prove he was serious. Roadhog let out a growl but looked down at Junkrat to see how his employer and son reacted.

It happened so quickly he really didn't have time to barely utter a yelp of surprise, suddenly he was grabbed and suddenly they were on the ground. He groaned as he struggled to his feet, "yew gotta be fuckin' kiddin' me." He now ached in about a hundred different places, and their only means of transportation was sitting there in a blazing heap, "This is great, jus' great! Wot the fuck did we even hit?!" He was babbling in a quick kind of way, which was mostly a product of fear, his heart was absolutely racing. He was about to launch into another volley of curses when he heard a voice.

"Yew wot!?" He turned to get a better earful of what the man was saying, but growled with a furious glare, "Yew could 'ave killed us yew fuckin drongo!" He was barely listening to the other guy even speak as he fumed, still recovering from the shock of actually crashing. He seethed as he began to advance at the guy, shaking a fist, "yew ain't gonna threaten' me yew lousy arse!" He was clearly a bot single minded, too in a tizzy to notice the weapon loaded and ready to made good on that threat.

"I'm not threatening you. I'm just telling you your options. Work for my employer, or die in this canyon." He raised his rifle and pointed it at Junk Rat, aiming to put a bullet right between his eyes before his scope was filled by a massive hand as Roadhog put his arm in front of the explosives maniac.

"We get it, you mean business. What are you offering?" Roadhog said, hoping that Junkrat wouldn't lash out.

"In addition to this here, you'll get free reign to operate in daylight, granted, your motives would be a bit different. You see, my employer is looking to build a new time, how would you two be interested in joining Overwatch?"

He would have kept advancing on the guy until Roadhog stopped him, which did cause him to pause and breath, he was still pissed, but he was at least thinking now. He looked up at him and let out a churlish laugh, "Whole lotta' options, eh Roadie?" He was listening now though, standing beside his massive companion, "wot job d'ye got that could possibly call fer this," He gestured to the burning mess this guy had made of their ride, "Kinda' action? Yew coulda' made mince of us both an' then what would yer employer say?" What job could possibly be that important?

When he said those last words however, it gave the young man pause, he put his hands up this time to show he didn't mean any threats, "Did...Did yew say Overwatch?" There was an awe-stricken look in his eyes that he couldn't quite control, but he was a little wary, "Yer pullin' our legs...Who sent yew?" He looked back at his companion, then back at the new guy, "wot should we do? I-I mean...If this bloke is legit..." He was mumbling to himself and to Roadhog, "I always wanted t'join up with them as a nipper...Wot else do we got t'lose..." He sighed, "I' tired'a bein' on the wrong side mate. Tired'a runnin'." It was something he'd never admitted to the other man before, but something that needed to be said.

"I've got the job to track down individuals hand picked to join the new Overwatch. He told me to do it however I wanted to, and this clearly got your attention." Hush said, lowering his rifle as Junkrat began to get the idea. "And you heard me right Jameson. The two of you have been selected to be part of the new Overwatch. The choice to join is yours."

Roadhog pondered it for a minute. The idea to work honestly for a change would be a shot at redemption. He'd been running for so long, the thought of not running was a pleasant change. However, he also didn't want to get too involved per say. He reached a compromise. "I go where he goes." He said, motioning to Junkrat.

"Alright then. Well Jameson, what'll it be?" Hush asked the angry Australian.

Hand picked? The words rang strangely in his head as he tried to think back, who would have hand picked them to be a part of something like this? Ana maybe? He had offered his services to her personally, so it only made sense for her to make good on that offer, "yeh...Got our attention real good, yeh arse!" Even if the guy was offering the chance of a lifetime, he'd still nearly killed them, that would not be forgotten, "they decided they needed a little more bang for their buck, eh?" He snickered, he hoped they were ready for the fireworks.

His attention turned to Roadhog as he waited for his input, half expecting him to be against the idea, this was a chance for the two of them to get away from the dark shit they'd done, but he didn't know if Hog even wanted to. When he heard his reply, however, he got a wide grin, slapping the larger man on the arm and sounding beyond excited, "Well I guess that makes us heroes, Roadie!" Like hell he would turn this chance down. He glanced back at the other man curiously, "Uh...So wot d'we do now?" He hoped this guy had a good plan to circumvent their current lack of transportation. He was still cross about that.

"First, you can take the bag." Hush motioned to the still opened bag of money sitting between them. "Second, you'll need a ride." He reached back and pulled out a flare gun, firing it into the air. The flare burned a bright white color that stood out against the blue sky and shortly there after, an Overwatch air transport appeared over the canyon edge and landed behind Hush. "Climb aboard." The sniper said as the hatch opened and he entered the ship. "Don't make me wait too long, I've got a lot of people to hunt down still."

Roadhog glanced over at his wrecked chopper, then at Junkrat, then at the ship. "Let's go then." Roadhog said, lumbering onto the vessal and taking a seat, motioning for Junkrat to follow.

Jamison picked up the bag when he was given the go ahead to do so, to be honest, payment wouldn't have been necessary to get the excitable man to join up, but it was certainly a nice incentive, "yeh I'll say we need a ride!" His tone dripped with sarcasm and he smirked, zipping up the sack of bills and slinging it over his shoulder, "gonna 'ave t'build a whole new slew of equipment...Bloody drongo." He was still sore about that, not as sore as he imagined Hog had to be feeling.

His eyes widened considerably when the air transport came into view, forgetting himself in his excitement, "We're gonna be flyin' in one'a THOSE?!" His tone was very reminiscent of a child in a candy store, "This is like...a legit Overwatch air transport...Yew really meant it didn't yew?" He didn't waste any time to follow Hog onto the ship, sitting beside him. After a moment he shuffled and looked at him, "'ey uh...Sorry 'bout yer choppa' mate..." He leaned against his side, chuckling softly, "But jus' think mate...No more runnin' from th' cops eh? We're on th' right side now!" He looked over at him curiously, "wot made yew decide t'keep followin' me? I mean...Yew could just take th' money an' split if yew wanted to. I'd give it to yeh." He didn't need it all things considered, becoming a member of Overwatch was enough for him, "yew still can yew know, money's yers if yew wanna split?" He didn't want him to split, but he wouldn't drag him into this if it wasn't what he wanted.

"Just...don't break anything" Hush said, walking up to the console to plot their course. Roadhog meanwhile sat on the floor, leaning his back against the wall. "Keep the cash." He growled, watching as their ride lifted off from the canyon and into the sky. "I can replace the bike. It was mostly junk anyway." He realized that it was for the best to break the news to him. "Junkrat...Jameson. I feel like you should know something..." Roadhog started, letting out a hollow sigh through his mask. "I'm your father..."

He gave a small snicker at that, getting to his feet, "I'll be gentle as a baby bunny mate." There was a sarcasm in his voice, even if he did mostly mean that. He was doing a piss poor job of sitting still as he meander around the space, looking towards his companion when he started to speak again, "well thas' true I s'pose. 'Least we're still kickin'!" After a bit of fidgeting and pacing, he finally settled back down beside Roadhog, glancing over at him as he spoke, "Tell me wot?"

He almost laughed when Hog spoke again, it was such a ludicrous statement after all, but there was something in the deadly serious way he said it, "yew wot?" He felt an ache in his head and groaned, "No yew ain't...Thas'...Me father was..." His eyes burned with anger and the beginnings of tears, "...He led the ALF...Shit. SHIT." He glared up at the man, unsure whether to feel overjoyed or infuriated, "why didn't yew come find me?!" He'd already gotten past Hog blowing the lid off the outback, but this was different, "I looked fer yew...I looked until I was so fucked in the 'ead I could barely rememba' me own name!" He put his hands to the side of his head and growled, "Did...Did yew even TRY an' find me?! Or did yew jus' run an' 'ide?!"

He hated crying, it felt weak and stupid, but he couldn't help it, "yew abandoned me for eighteen fuckin' years." But he couldn't hate him, no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't hate the man, "The thought of findin' yew was wot kept me goin' for a while...I'd find yew and we'd escape an' it'd be okay." He sniffed, finding himself out of energy for once, too drained to be angry, "I had t'look right in the face of mum's corpse y'know. I've fergotten almost everythin' else but I'll never forget that." He looked up at him with a childishly mournful expression, "Why didn't yew come find me?"

"I did find you." Roadhog said, not showing any emotional response to his son's outburst. "I found you and offered my services. Once I saw how much you hated the ALF, I couldn't just tell you. Now though, I figured you should know." He stood up at the mention of his wife. "I'm sorry you had to see her like that. After the Omnium, I came back to her. She was clinging to life. I didn't want you to have to see her in that much pain that I...I put her out of her misery." Roadhog confessed, looking at the floor and then back up at his son. "I did find you though. It took a while, but I found you and I'm not leaving you again."

"Alright, touching family reunion but could you calm the fuck down back there!" Hush called from the controls of his ship having heard the full extent of Junkrat's tantrum.
