Through the Ages [Harley]

Ian frowned, but he answered the question honestly. "I have. No matter the circumstances...it never really becomes easier. I think...I would rather not talk about that. I think that might be nicer for the both of us." Some of the incidents had been rather gruesome, he'd rather not put those images into Harley's head.

"You know that I will be there. And you know what will come after. It is nothing to fear." He reassured the man with another smile before brushing a hand along his cheek, then over his hair.

"But for tonight, you should get some rest. You look as though you could use it. And I know that I could as well...do not worry, I promise, I will still be here with you when you wake up again." he promised.

===Middle Ages, Europe===

Coming to a new land as vastly different as this one was a culture shock, he was fortunate that his ambassador role afforded him a sound grasp on the language, and that it afforded him respect he might not have been shown otherwise were he just a traveller.

He was here to discuss peace, a union, and the people had been more than hospitable to him since his arrival off of the boat just a day prior. it had taken him a stretch of time to make it to his destination, which was a ways inland from the port that he'd landed in, and he was overwhelmed and fascinated by the architecture of the structures around him as he was led inside.

He'd been told that he was to meet a man here who would be showing him around and helping him to settle in, though he had not been given a name or a description, he supposed he wouldn't be difficult to pick out, and he was content to peruse the gardens as he waited for the adviser to the king that was meant to take care of him and show him around during his stay.

With time and effort, a series of good impressions and many points of sound advice offered in some tense situations, Ian had managed to earn himself a place of trust and respect in the courts, a man who seemed to carry wisdom and grace beyond his years. And it earned him a great deal of trust in situations such as this one, where how he acted carried a great deal of weight in how this situation would end.

The newcomer had already been safely escorted to the palace grounds, Ian had been told to meet him in the gardens, and to see to it that all of his needs were met to the best of his abilities, and any questions he had answered. He enjoyed these sorts of interactions, seeing the world through other's views and sharing his own.

Once he arrived it was certainly not difficult to pick the man out among the other's in the gardens, Ian approached with a warm smile and a slight welcoming bow.

"Good afternoon and welcome to our kingdom. Whatever it is that you need, I shall do my best to provide to you." He greeted. "I trust your needs have been met up until this point?" He hadn't been here long, but there was still many ways first imprssions might have gone wrong, and it would be his place to smooth them if they had.

He'd always loved gardens, so he was content to wait here admiring flowers and plants that he'd never seen before until the man who was to look after him came to meet him. When he heard a voice greeting him however, he turned and offered a warm smile of his on, "oh, suprabhaat, aap kaisey hain? I am so sorry...Good morning!" He gave a polite bow in return, smiling up at him, "are you Ian? It is so good to meet you. I am Anubhav, I am sure you knew that..." He chuckled, then gestured to the gardens, "I was admiring your gardens, there are many flowers here that I do not recognize."

At the question he nodded, "oh yes, they have been very good to me during the journey here, thank you." He looked curious, "would you like to show me around? Tell me of yourself, your people, it is quite a different world here." He chuckled and leaned in to whisper, "and perhaps any customs I should be aware of. The last thing I wish to do is offend anyone." It would be unfortunate for many people if his own first impression was poorly executed after all.

Ian nodded an acknowledgement. "I am here to show you around, to answer any questions that you have, and see to it that your needs are met wherever I am able to."

They started to stroll forward, he pointed out flowers and their names as they went. "These gardens have been carefully cultivated, our gardeners are most talented in getting even the most delicate of plants to bloom here."

"And there are indeed customs here to be aware of, court manners and the like which you will need to be versed in before your first court appearance." He began to list some of them off for his benefit, although he promised to sit down and go over them in more depth before he went to court. In between he also pointed out oddities or interesting bits of the castle, elaborate stonework and other details.

"These rooms are yours." He smiled as he unlocked a heavy door, opening a wing beyond them, lushly decorated rooms furnished with food, furniture, clothes and anything else someone of notable status might enjoy. "They, and everything in them are yours to do with as you wish during your stay."
