The Fallen Angel [Tom]

Gabriel raised a brow at that, yes that is how thermodynamics worked and metal tended to conduct heat rather well. He hummed and reached over taking Tom's hand. "I suppose that's true," he replied. "A matter of perspective." He laughed a bit. This was strangely endearing, just...doing /normal/ things. How bizarre. "Oh well, though I have to say, landing here has really been nice, it's very different. I never got to.../be/ really mostly I'm pumped full of adrenaline and sent off. They say 'go kill them' or 'go destroy that' and well being that full of adrenaline just means I have to." He scratched his throat.

"I'm not really sure how I got involved with much of any of this, at some point I just woke up, and I was told to do this and that," he explained and smiled a bit with a laugh. "A lover not a fighter, I like that. Maybe I can be something like that too. I think I'd like it." He still had Toms hand in his as if conducting some experiment with it. Eventually the temperature between flesh and metal would equalize. "Are you sure? Well seems like a comfortable seat, I'm sure it would be nice to lay on. Thank you, that's very kind of you to offer. I'll try not to overstay my welcome."

Tom's cheeks peppered with a light red again when Gabriel took his hand, and this time he didn't let it go which made it worse. He chuckled and nodded, "people always tell me that I'm wasting away my life just breezing by...And I suppose it's true." He shrugged, "I could be doing so much more but...There's beauty in just being." Of course, it would be nice to have huge dreams and the drive to accomplish them, but he was kind of happy just being Tom most days, "well. Regardless of what you did then, you're here now, you can just be now." You can be with me too, he chuckled, mentally scolding himself for such a wild notion.

He looked thoughtful, tilting his head, "I kind of know how that is...I mean...I've never been told to kill anyone but," he gave a shrug and looked to the side, "I spent a good chunk of my life being told exactly what to do, when to do it, who to be." He reached a hand to run through his hair, "leaves you feeling like you don't know who you are when you finally get that freedom." He chuckled, then nodded in agreement, "I'd invite you into my bed but uh...Well." That would be weird, not to him, it was a rather delightful idea to him, "you wont overstay your welcome...To be honest I'm a tragically lonely person...So having company is nice."

Gabriel sighed and nodded. He'd always kinda wanted to just be. Sure he wasn't exactly like other people, not even exactly human but why should that stop him? He deserved to exist just as much as anyone else. "Doesn't sound like a waste to me, you're not bound to anyone elses will you do what you like. Sounds nice," he replied and chuckled. "There's beauty in just being, isn't that right?" He looked at Tom and gave a soft smile. "I guess I'm lucky I fell in this yard." He took his hand away finally, and put it to his own cheek. "So about a minute or two and now my hand is warm." He chuckled a bit, what a silly experiment.

"Not fond of it, the killing part, I just...can't help it, what they did to me," he said and furrowed his brow a bit. "I've hurt a lot of people, most of them I don't even know why I had to hurt them." He leaned back and closed his eyes. "Suppose its the same, me and you. I'll have to figure out who Gabriel really is then, now that he's lost his wings." He sighed and perked a brow as Tom offered his bed. "I don't mind, but my limbs are pretty cold, are you sure you're okay with that?" He tilted his head. "I suppose I could wear gloves and socks. Wouldn't be so bad then." He hummed. "Oh well, happy to be company then."

Tom nodded with a soft chuckle, looking thoughtful, "some people want nothing more than to shoot for the stars..." He shrugged and leaned back against the arm of the couch, looking thoughtful, "Me? I'm starting to realize that I'm...Kind of content with being ordinary." He'd spent his entire time with his mom trying to live up to her grand expectations, and he'd never felt right shooting for the moon, maybe it was because he didn't want the moon. He grinned at him and laughed, "well there you go, even a metal hand can be warm, eh?" It was kind of cheesy, but also kind of endearing.

He frowned and looked over his face, letting out a soft breath, "if it means anything...I don't blame you for whatever you did before. I'm sorry you were made to do that though..." How awful must it be to be forced into taking so many lives? He could barely stand to kill spiders in his home, much less a person, "Gabriel seems like a pretty good person, in my opinion." He shrugged, "you could have easily hurt me, but you didn't...You've been nothing but polite...It's...Kind of endearing." His thoughts were halted when Gabriel went for the idea of being in his bed, half sputtering, he had said that as a passing remark, "Wh...Uh...Well man..." He ran a hand through his hair with a bashful sort of grin, "boy your cold limbs wouldn't bother me...I promise. Be more comfortable than the couch." He cleared his throat, trying to pass off just how flustered the thought made him.

Gabriel nodded softly as he set the bowl and spoon on a side table, he sighed. "Yes, some people would like the world, some would take stars from the sky if they could," he mused and shook his head. "Ordinary is good, ordinary is wonderful, I wouldn't mind being ordinary." He looked at his metal hands thoughtfully and sighed. "I don't think I'll ever have that though, there's too many oddities about me." He gave a melancholy smile, looking over at Tom. "It is nice to feel a bit ordinary though. And yes, even metal hands can be warm, given the right sort of touch I suppose."

He'd been so polite in not mentioning anything about Tom's behavior it was getting difficult now however. "Kind of you to say, I doubt my victims would say the same..." he said softly, looking elsewhere for a moment. Gabriel crossed his legs under himself, shrugging, ther ewasn't much he could do about it. He'd done those awful things, regardless of the circumstances. "Wasn't told to hurt you, I don't really have the urge on my own, honestly. I'm just...just a soldier I guess." The angel rubbed the back of his neck. Gabriel had to say something, Tom was not good at hiding it. "You find me attractive?" He asked finally. "I really didn't want to say anything, but I think I've made you uncomfortable." He laughed a bit. "I'm sorry."

Tom looked him over with a thoughtful expression, tilting his head, "I think anyone can be ordinary if they let it happen." He shrugged and reached to take his hand, "sure you're a cyborg, and sure you've been told to do some pretty messed up shit in the past...But..." He chuckled and looked over their hands, "what we're doing is pretty dang ordinary, hm?" He shrugged and let go, looking thoughtful, "there's beauty in the ordinary...Most people are just too busy shooting for the stars to see it." People told him he was going nowhere in life, but maybe it was just that he wasn't going fast enough for their liking.

He smiled a little, actually giving the man a gentle nudge, "any soldier could say that though, anyone who has killed anyone could...Sometimes you just end up forced to do bad things...But you can choose now, right? That's what matters." His next question caused Tom to sputter, and his blush went from light red to a darker shade, "I-I...Uh..." He put his hands over his cheeks and looked away, "is it really that obvious? Jesus..." He cleared his throat and laughed, "yeah you're pretty damn attractive...You haven't made me uncomfortable in the least though, I promise!" God how embarrassing was it to be caught in his terrible job at hiding it.

Gabe laughed. "Sure you're a weird in between, but maybe even a strange freak like me can manage ordinary," he said with a cynical sort of edge to his words. "Sorry, I don't like to be so negative, and you're right, this is pretty mundane. I just ate a bowl of cereal, and I'm sitting on a couch with someone." He nodded. "Yeah this is nice, I like it. Not in stasis, not all pumped up on adrenaline, just...average; mundane." He looked to Toms hand in his and gave a soft smile. "Thank you...for the uhm, completely unremarkable time."

"Any soldier could, I just feel like I'm not exactly a soldier with a war, that maybe the people who point me in the direction I'm going are...not the right sort," he said with a sigh, running a hand through his hair. "Well, what if I don't make the correct choices?" He furrowed his brow, honestly wasn't that a problem? What choice was he supposed to make now that he could? "I suppose it is, I didn't want to comment on it, I wasn't sure it was right to," he offered as he chuckled a bit. "Am I? Guess I don't really know what is attractive and isn't though. I'll just have to take your word for it." He laughed a bit. "It won't be uncomfortable for me to sleep with you then? Are you sure?"

Tom almost flinched at his tone, he hadn't meant it like that, had he said the wrong thing? He gave a small smile and shrugged, "s'okay, everyone gets negative sometimes." Even he had his moments, he was just good at hiding them. He shrugged simply and looked thoughtful, "sometimes when everything else sucks, you find good where you can." He aighed softly and looked down, "if there was anything my shrew of a mother taught me...It was that." He grew up forced to see good where he could, it was a handy skill as a barely functioning adult, he supposed.

He tilted his head at that though, giving him a gentle smile, "I'll help..." He shrugged and looked to the side, smiling softly, "I-I mean...As best as I can. I can help you figure things out?" He wasn't the best at making complicated choices, but he could sure try and help Gabe figure it out, he felt he deserved a chance to do that. Tom's blush hadn't subsided and he only laughed, shaking his head, "I didn't realize I was being so obvious...Gosh." He looked up at him and lifted his hand, shaking his head, "No no I'll be alright, I'm sure!" He smiled at him, "might be nice to share my bed for a change...Kind of gets lonely after all."

The angel sighed as he leaned his head back. "This is all very strange, considering what I am...is barely human," he said softly. "Good where you can, well I guess you're pretty good right? Feeding and clothing a complete stranger who fell out of the sky, one that probably could have killed you. Very good," he said with a shrug. "I wonder if I have parents, probably not." He scratched his chin thoughtfully. Gabriel never thought much about who this body was, as of course he was not the first owner of it.

"Really?" Gabriel asked as he smiled at Tom. "I'd like that, it'd be good to have some direction, I've never been listless." He laughed a bit. "Maybe we can go to the beach? That sounds rather average, and well...I'd like to feel water," there were a lot of things that Gabriel hadn't experience properly. All of these mundane activities. He was the most complete personality of all of the rest of his brothers and as such...he had the capacity to go back to something normal. He craved it. "It's alright, I'm flattered," he mused. "It will be quite different, sleeping...regular sleeping, with someone no less..." Gabe raised a brow.

Tom smiled at him, tilting his head and looking thoughtful at that, "but what is being human? Sure in the literal sense it's being...Well human. But I think actions can determine humanity too." He wasn't usually this deep, but this man was interesting and he couldn't help but be his own watered down version of philosophical, "you could be wholly human without even being physically so. At least that's how I see it." He frowned a little when he mentioned his parents, scooting a little closer and leaning against his side, "family is what you make it, I understand wondering though, I wish I could help..." He wasn't even sure how one handled a search like that.

He nodded with a kind smile, looking over at him, "yeah really, I'm still figuring stuff out myself, we can figure it out together." He chuckled and nodded at that, "I'd like that, I know a nice one, kind of off the beaten path...Not many people go there so it'd be pretty empty." He figured he would prefer less people there to gawk and stare, he gave a soft chuckle, "could take you grocery shopping with me too...Nothing more average than that, eh?" It was an amusing though, really, taking him to the grocery store. He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair, giving a soft smile, "new to me too, I've always slept alone...Kinda hate it...So it'll be kinda nice I think."

"I don't know, this body is human, but I find my actions uncertain; are they human even if technically a human doesn't make them? I'm not making sense I should explain myself," he said and sighed, smiling as he tried to think of the best way to explain it. "You know how a beehive all works together towards the good of the colony? Well no that's not a good analogy because I'm not a hive, I'm a single thing." He laughed a bit. "I'm an artificial intelligence, mostly." He shrugged. "It's maybe hard to explain. Oh well, I'm not so worried about it, I doubt they would recognize me or I would know them. I was more or less cooked up in a lab." Gabriel smiled bemused at the thought.

Gabe nodded. "Empty, sounds good, I'd hate to disturb people's nice days," he mused as he experimented with putting an arm around Tom's shoulders. hat seemed normal enough. Grocery Shopping? "Oh you mean like purchasing food? That would be terribly average. I would be happy to go with you." He sighed as he leaned back a bit. "Well I will enjoy it, I will try not to be too comfortable."

Tom looked up at him as he tried to explain what he meant, doing his best to try and get the jist of it, thought for the most part it flew over his head, "doesn't matter to me whether the stuff controlling the body is wholly human, or AI, or a thousand hamsters on treadmills..." He snorted at his dumb mental image, "the point I'm trying to make is this." He took his hand and held it flat against his own, "regardless of what runs the body, the choices you make determine your humanity." He shrugged simply, "after all, humans as a whole are nothing more than trillions of cells and nerves, right?" He tapped his chin, "it's really not all that different when you really think about it." Or that was how he saw it, he wasn't exactly a philosophy major, or science.

His cheeks reddened a little when Gabriel put his arm around him, but he didn't make any moves to pull away, "yeah...I mean if you're going to be staying here we might as well find stuff you might like to eat! It'll be fun!" He chuckled, he was so domestic, finding grocery shopping fun? Jesus. He chuckled and closed his eyes, shaking his head, "no worries, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to having a bed mate."

Gabe furrowed his brow and started to smile again, as he nodded. Wow, that was nice to hear. He tilted his head. "Is that something that happens often, hamsters on treadmills controlling something?" he asked with a laugh, it was ridiculous wasn't it? He felt odd, listened to Tom, he made him feel comfortable with this. He'd had trouble explaining it but...it didn't matter did it? "Such a strange thing, I feel...happy to hear you say that. Not just happy, I'm almost embarrassed." He let his metal fingers curl into Tom's. "This has been a very strange day. I don't know what to say about all of it. I was buried under some rubble, then I fell out of the sky, and then I met such a nice man in his backyard, and now I'm sitting on his couch after a bowl of cereal discussing the philosophy of humanity." He let out another laugh. "Very strange day."

"To be honest I don't have a great sense of taste, I'll eat almost anything, so the trip might be more for the fun than the use," he replied as he sighed. "Like uh what, a sleepover? Or is that something children do?"
