The cargo plane touched down in Gibraltar mid afternoon, the sun starting to slant sideways but the day still quite warm.
Ana was glad to finally be back on the ground, as she was sure her companions were as well. It was a long time to be shut up in a small space, mentally running over a thousand possibilities but not yet able to do anything about any of them. At least she'd been able to sleep a little bit, it had helped the time pass a little faster.
She had gathered up her things quickly and had a final conversation in quiet Arabic with their pilot, the last of the promised money exchanged hands, and he presumably went back on with his day, pretending he'd never seen them around here. At least that had been the deal.
Bags slung over her shoulder she stood on the tarmac and took in a deep breath, even past the smells of grease, of chemicals, and that strange smell that always came with heat rising off paved ground she could still pick out the fresh tang of the sea that surrounded them. She remembered this place well and had enjoyed her time stationed here, it felt a bit strange and surreal to be back, but to be all but sneaking into the place. Perhaps all would go as planned and hoped, and they wouldn't end up sneaking back out. Or running for their lives. She waited for the others to join her, so they could get underway. They should have enough time to get close and oriented before it became too dark.
